Events Calendar.

Our mission is to maintain and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors through recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities while continually seeking revenue enhancing approaches through which to develop a more efficient and effective operation.

Barnard Park will be opening for the season on April 1st through October. The park will be available daily from 6:00am to 10:00pm.

Family basketball at Beech Glen Community Center.
Family basketball is held on Friday evenings starting at 6:30PM . Adults and children from the 6th grade up play at this time. Cost:$1.00 per child and $2.00 per adult.
Appropriate footwear is required.  Any questions should be directed to the
Parks and Recreation office at 649-3635 or Beech Glen Community Center at
680-9525.

 

 

On June 26th/28th, we will leave the bypass offices at 9am to travel to Greeneville to Kinser Park to swim and play on the water slide.  The cost will be $7 ($8 after June 1st) plus a bag lunch.  We are scheduled to return to the bypass at 3pm.


Beach anyone?  On July 10th/12th,  we will travel to Lake Lure to their beach and waterworks play area. The cost is $7 ($8 after June 1st) plus a bag lunch.  We will meet at the bypass offices at 9am and return around 5pm.


We will return to the Lake Lure area on July 17th/19th for a visit to Chimney Rock Park.  We will meet at 9am at the bypass offices and return at 5pm.  The cost is $7 ($8 after June 1st) plus a bag lunch.  Don’t be left out!!!


On July 24th we will be staying in Madison County and rafting down the French Broad River courtesy of the four local rafting outfitters.  Only ages 8 and older may participate in this event.  Please meet at the bypass offices at 9am. The cost is $7 ($8 after June 1st) and a bag lunch.  We will return to the bypass by 1pm.


All events are filling up fast, so please register as soon as possible by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 649-3635 for a registration form.  Only the first 60 participants that register with payment will be allowed to attend each day.  Scholarships are available if needed.  There is a need for chaperons and helpers for all of the events.  High school students will receive service hour documentation at the end of the summer to add to their resumes and college scholarship applications.  Please contact Parks and Recreation if you are willing to help.
