We are
looking for individuals who enjoy working with animals or who would
like to help the animals at the shelter through duties that
facilitate animal related projects. The work at the Madison County
Animal Shelter is both challenging and satisfying.
Volunteers perform an
invaluable service in the operation of this unique county
department.
Below is a list of duties you
may volunteer for at the shelter:
Dog Walking/Animal
Socialization: Exercise, socialize and train dogs available for
adoption while reinforcing positive behavior.
Animal Bather/Groomer: This
position involves bathing and grooming the animals so they look (and
feel) their best.
Cleaning: Clean and sanitize
the kennels, laundry, and dishes so the animals have a healthy
environment.
Launderer: Blankets and
towels are used daily to provide animal comfort. We need people at
each shelter to collect, wash & dry blankets and towels and
redistribute to animals who need extra care.
Front Desk Greeter/Kennel
Greeter: Greeting and directing visitors is vital! Greet and assist
customer as they enter the shelter. Are they looking for their own
lost pet? Do they want to adopt a new furry family member? Help them
find their way around!
Foster Care: Can you foster
an animal in your home?
Repair/Maintenance: Good with
tools? Like to garden, The shelter needs repair work on the building
and the grounds need care and maintenance.
Educational/Special Events:
Enjoy talking to kids? Love getting in front of a classroom? We are
looking for people with teaching skills to talk to kids in our
community about dog bite prevention and responsible pet
ownership.
Pet Adoption Days: Help an
animal find a new family to love!
You must be 16 years of age
or be accompanied by an adult to volunteer.
